JOEL MADDEN - Head Coach

Joel started diving at the age of 15, and within 8 short months he qualified for Junior Nationals. Joel dove competitively for 11 years, was a member of the Canadian Senior National Team and a double medalist at the 1993 Canada Games.

As a coach Joel has produced several Junior and Senior National divers as a coach. During his first year coaching for STARS he brought a new diver to nationals who ended up placing 10th in his age group. When not coaching, Joel volunteers his time on the Board of Directors for Dive Ontario as Vice President of Athlete Programming.

RANDY SAGEMEN - National Coach

Randy is a former Olympic Diver, representing Canada at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles and was a member of the Canadian National Team from 1980-1986. Randy has won a national championships 12 times throughout his diving career and has represented Canada at numerous international competitions.

Randy has over 30 years of diving and coaching experience and is a Level 4/5 (National Level) Coach.

MELISSA MCCRADY - Assistant Junior Coach

Melissa started her career as a gymnast and switched to diving after only trying one practise. As an athlete Melissa quailified for Junior Nationals at the age of 15. She was awarded a scholarship to Columbia University in New York State. After returning to Canada, she contintued competing nationally. In her first appearance at the Canadian Senior Nationals, she won the bronze medal in the 3 meter synchronised event.

Melissa is now is studying at McMaster University in the Master's program in Neuroscience. Melissa's interest in diving extends to the psychological side as well. Her honour's thesis in Psychology found evidence for the need to implement a mental training program that is tailored to each individual athlete.

JEN MCGAULEY - Learn-To-Dive Coach

Jen started diving as an adult with STARS Diving. She enjoyed the sport so much wanted to be more involved. Jen served as Treasurer on the board of executives for Stars Diving for two years. Jen now holds the title of President of Stars Diving. The club is growing faster than ever under her watch. Our Learn-To-Dive program has increased in numbers, as well as our competitive team.

Jen hasn't forgotten her humble beginnings, you can still catch her diving in the Masters Diving program at the Etobicoke Olympium in the evenings.
